In the Atelier, 7.5 inches by 10 inches, pastel on paper

This painting of my studio before last year’s renovation was created with Prismacolor NuPastels and Faber-Castell pastels and pastel pencils. I’m always looking at  how light is cast in interiors. The light coming through in my studio in the afternoon is quite bright, even on a rainy day. I’ve painted  this light  before.  I liked keeping this one loose even though it’s small - I used the pastel pencil not for drawing or detail (I let the pastels do the heavy lifting there) - but for blending and I think that keeping it  loose creates a feeling of mood and energy based on the lighting that day.
