Second dog portrait commission in a row, featuring Cape Cod, no less! This was a really fun painting to do. There were so many different textures and nuanced colors reflected from the fur to the sand and from the colors in the sky. I wanted to invite the viewer into Aubrey’s world so I didn’t stay confined to the parameters of the reference photo, extending the horizon line just a bit. I used my entire arsenal of pastels on this one, including my Sennelier Iridescents - you can’t see the sparkly in an online image, but they went great along the weathered wood.
