I recently completed this commission, which was a wedding gift from the groom’s mother.  The couple chose the image from which I drew inspiration. While I wanted to honor the spirit of the photograph, I took liberties to improve the composition by focusing on the couple and changing their gaze. To render full figures so that the couple would be recognizable, I’d have to use a sheet of paper so huge it would be impractical to ship, and not knowing what wall space they have to dedicate to art, that would be a risk not worth taking. Although the bride’s dress was lovely, it was more important to me to show her radiant smile.
