Painting black animals and birds never fails to entertain because of the range of colors you can see in the reflections. I’m working on a black cat this week (Halloween inspired) and these older paintings came to mind. Seeing the iridescent shades make black so exciting. All of these are in private collections (including my own, the portrait of my dog Dasher).
