In Arundel, 9 inches by 12 inches, pastel on paper

Happy New Year! The first painting of the year is a view of the road home from a short holiday visit in Maine.  It was a foggy few days so I didn’t get a chance to take nearly as many photos as I’d planned to, so I worked with the conditions nature dealt, finding inspiration in some unexpected places. The trip home started out rainy and the road conditions were perfect for a loose and muted scene rendered in soft pastel.
