Back to the Biltmore

Back to the Biltmore, 12 inches by 7 inches, pastel on paper

As I mentioned in my post, Alone at the Biltmore,  something about these statues at the Biltmore feels incongruous to me. While the statues portray themes like love, joy and innocence,  the overwhelmingly  open sky above them and their stark surroundings evoke a feeling of isolation to me - and in this painting I think there’s a hint of solitude, as well.
