Lighthouse Keeping

This one went through a lot of twists and turns, inspired by the nautilus design of spiral staircases in lighthouses. Often one idea morphs radically into something else entirely, but that’s the fun part of the process. Sometimes it’s scale, others it’s composition, and sometimes both of those influence the decision to abandon the original idea and find a better way to execute it. This is also another large painting dictated by subject matter and I’m enjoying  working bigger. I used Faber-Castell pastels and pencils  and Prismacolor hard pastels This painting is available for $700.00.
